2020 Has Been a Little Different
Have truer words ever been spoken?
All of our pending Extra Life events at other campuses have been canceled for 2020.
All of our events we attend to fundraise and recruit have been canceled for 2020.
RowdyCon, which was previously an Extra Life event, has been delayed indefinitely.
That leaves our big event, which has been the 25-hour marathon we've held the last three years. CSUB is not permitting in-person events through the end of the year, and it wouldn't be a good idea to get all those people in one space anyway. But...
The Lauren Small Children's Center at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, like many of the children's hospitals nationwide, expects to see a large drop in fundraising this year as regular donors redirect their efforts toward COVID-19 relief, support for Black Lives Matter, and issues related to the Presidential elections..
But even if we can't put together a group event, we still want to "play games and heal kids," and we want you to join us!
We will be livestreaming 12 hours on these days but gamers can play offline, too.
Bakersfield Extra Life Day - Saturday, October 10, 2020 10 am to 10 pm
That's "Ten to Ten on Ten Ten Twenty Twenty."
National Extra Life Day - Saturday, November 7, 2020 11 am to 11 pm
That's "Eleven to Eleven on Eleven-Seven."
Merry Extra Life Day - Saturday, December 5, 2020 12 pm (noon) to 12 am (midnight)
That's "Twelve to Twelve on Twelve-Five." (You knew that couldn't last.)
We will be hosting our own livestream each Extra Life Day on Twitch.tv/ExtralifeBakersfield, and if you livestream, we'd be happy to share your stream on ours.
We'll have prizes to give away based on your fundraising. We are pushing all of our prize drawings to December 12, 2020, so you have more tine to raise funds and increase your chances of winning some awesome prizes! By waiting to hold all prize drawings until after the new consoles launch, it will increase the quality and number of our prizes significantly!
